Inside The Boxx – Pandora Boxx

RuPaul’s All Star Drag Race is just over two weeks away from airing, and while I count down the days (and hours), I thought I’d catch up with the ever gracious, hilarious and camp Pandora Boxx. Best known as a contestant on Season 2 of the smash hit RuPaul’s Drag Race, Pandora has been entertaining internationally for more than a decade. Her elimination was one of the most controversial of the season, and her popularity landed her the title of ‘Miss Congeniality’, which she won by a landslide. She was also voted MVP for both seasons of the spinoff show RuPaul’s Drag U.

You were voted Miss Congeniality on s2, how do you stay so sane?

Lots of vodka and a completely sane, normal boyfriend who keeps me grounded.

How often do you get asked to say ‘raspberries’??? (Your Carol Channing was the funniest moment of the season).

All the damn time! But I’m glad so many people found it funny.  It was the highlight of the show for me.  Making RuPaul laugh was like a kiss from baby Jesus.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve been sent in the mail (or if you haven’t been sent anything… what’s the weirdest thing that’s happened in person)?

Actually, I sold a pair of my heels for $400 at a show and he said he’d match that price for the charity of my choice.  Slightly odd but fabulous at the same time!

Pandora, where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere.Television, movies, unicorns, rainbows, and even the local asylum.

For Australian audiences who haven’t seen Drag U yet, can you tell us about the show in a nutshell?

We show biological women that through the art of drag they can truly believe in themselves again.

We are over the moon that you’re going to be in RuPaul’s All Star Drag Race! Who are you most looking forward to being on the show with?

None of them.  They will all be competition!  Honestly, I really like almost all of them so it’s a thrill to get to work with people you like.

You have so many talents! Tell us about your single Cooter! and how it came about.

I used to joke to my friends that I was going to make an album and have funny songs.  I’d think up random songs and we’d laugh. Cooter! was one song that came into my mind.  Then I met Jipsta who is a recording artist so we teamed up and co-wrote it and Joey Cole and DJ David Petrilla, who worked with Jipsta before, did the music of it.  My mom’s very proud to have a son with a song called Cooter.

Thank you so much for squeezing me into your busy schedule – is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?

Thank you to all of you for letting be able to do what I love doing!  I have the best fans in the world. Oh and if you are a real Fandora you better go and buy my new T-Shirt at my website.
