During the marriage postal survey Kaspi-Crutchett founded the organisation Students for Marriage Equality, mobilising a large contingent of students who joined the campaign door knocking, handing out flyers at train stations and assisting in the campaign for marriage equality.

Alana Clohesy MLC said she couldn’t think of a more worthy recipient for the award, praising Kaspi-Crutchlet’s work on the issue of marriage equality.

The Community Citizen of the year was awarded to Frank Giannini, while Roger Tomlins was named Senior Community Citizen of the year. The Active Citizenship of the year award was given to Environment House.
