Pride Parade This Weekend

Don’t miss the 2011 Pride Parade on this weekend down on William and James Street, Northbridge.

The Parade starts at 8pm on Saturday night, starting around the corner of Brisbane and William Streets, down William Street to James Street and finishes at Russell Square Park.

Dykes on Bikes will lead the parade with at least 50 floats expected to follow this year.

Earlier this month, Pride WA spokesperson Alice Newport-Holden said the Pride Parade was an integral part of the WA community.

‘Over the last few years, the Parade has been reborn. Now in its 22nd year, while still highlighting important issues such as the need for law reform, especially at a Federal level, the Parade is now a spectacle unlike any other in Western Australia,’ she said.

‘With around 3,500 people participating in the year’s event, and over 50,000 people expected to assemble in Northbridge to watch the parade, it is an integral part of the WA community.’
