Rock legend Little Richard calls gay relationships "unnatural"

Rock legend Little Richard has declared same-sex relationships are unnatural, despite having come out himself a few years ago.

Appearing on a Christian broadcast in the USA, just a few weeks ago, the 84-year old rocker said faith was important to him, and same-sex relationships were unnatural.

“When I first come in show business they wanted you to look like everybody but yourself,” Little Richard said. “And, anybody that comes in show business they gone say you gay or straight… God made men, men and women, women.”

The singer said he had given up rock ‘n roll and was now aiming to live a holy life, like Jesus.

Little Richard has given various points of views over the decades, at times embracing his sexuality, and on other occasions speaking out against homosexuality.

In 1995 he gave an interview to Penthouse magazine where he said he’d been gay his whole life, and he thought God would be okay with it.

“I’ve been gay all my life and I know God is a God of love, not of hate.” Little Richard said.

A decade earlier though, in 1984, he described homosexuality as “unnatual” and “contagious”.

The singer has previously acknowledged that when he was a teenager his father threw him out of the family home when he discovered he was gay. Little Richard has also confirmed that he worked as a drag performer in the 1950’s.
