A total of 102 destinations throughout Perth and its surrounds will give the public unprecedented access to view and experience outstanding architecture and design spaces usually inaccessible to the public, and the event is completely free.

Fifty five destinations will open their doors for the very first time in 2018. Debuting locations include Claremont by Mirvac, the all-new QT Hotel, Dollhouse 2.0 by JC Design Studio, Optus Stadium, Cloister House by MORQ Architects and many more.

The event is a great opportunity to look inside those spaces and places that you’ve passed by and always wondered what they were like inside, plus you can also discover a stack of intriguing spots you never knew existed.

Open House Perth invites residents to celebrate, explore and admire Perth by being a visitor in their own city. The weekend will feature rooftops, heritage buildings, residential masterpieces and towers offering the best views of our city depending on the destination.

Visitors can explore destinations at their own leisure with self-guided tours, join tours by expert guides or enter a ballot for the chance to get inside exclusive locations. Open House expects over 50,000 visitors over the weekend.

Special one-off Open House Perth events will feature over the weekend. Some of these include Claremont by Mirvac, showcasing pairings by leading furniture and design retailers with local artists in nine of its remaining apartments.

Skater’s Eye Tour 2.0 will exploring the city’s best skating spots with a special movie screening at the Perth Cultural Centre Screen, you can head off on a Historic Hearts Art Tours, while architecture firm Woods Bagot is showcasing artwork and design projects from emerging artists and designers in one Perth’s oldest buildings the Palace Hotel.

There’ll be workshops and talks from established local architects at locations such as Chicho Gelato, Hadiqa at Hibernian Place; and activities for children at The Akidamy School of Early Learning and at the West Australian Ballet Centre.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like inside community radio station RTRFM 92.1, you can also take a tour through their premises and head into to the studio, visit their massive CD library and pop your head into the tiny studio where they read the news. There also tours around Channel Nine’s stunning new city centre studios.

Open House Perth, a not-for-profit organisation, gained critical support from the City of Perth and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage to ensure this year’s event could take place for a sixth year.

The Open House initiative began in London in 1992 as a small non-for-profit organisation founded by a number of architects hoping to foster a greater understand of architecture outside the profession and to promote the value of good design.

Joining the Open House family in 2011, Open House Perth has welcomed over 280,000 visitors over seven years to hundreds of destinations in that time.

This now international festival features in cities including New York, London, Dublin, Jerusalem, Oslo, Chicago, Rome, Buenos Aires, Vienna, Athens, Prague, Madrid, Milan, Zurich, Stockholm, Atlanta and Mexico City.

Head to the Open House website to plan your journey around the city.
