Courtney Barnett announces tour, but Perth is not on her itinerary

Courtney Barnett has announced an Australian tour, but this time around the musician is only visiting the east coast, following a recent trend of artists leaving Perth off their schedules.

The Grammy‑nominated singer‑songwriter will take her live show to Brisbane’s The Tivoli on 4 November and Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on 7 November, plus a stop at the iconic Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

More than four years since her last Australian tour, Barnett makes her homecoming in the wake of extensive UK and North American dates.

The tour will celebrate the musician’s recently released album Creature of Habit. OUTinPerth gave the new record a 4½ star review, describing it as a sonic shift for Barnett following her move to the USA.

Written in the wake of a relocation from Australia to Los Angeles and the closure of her long-running label Milk! Records, Barnett was grappling with changes that put the future of both her life and career in question. Rather than internalising those feelings, she decided to bring all this swirling confusion directly into the recording process.
