For a country that just a few years ago listed homosexuality as a ‘social evil’, it has definitely come as a surprise for some that Vietnam is working to legalise same-sex marriage.

If the Vietnam Communist Government legalises same-sex marriage, it will be the first country in Asia to do so. It is believed this change in views has been encouraged by positive media coverage, with state-run media covering gay rights issues at quite a liberal rate over the last five years
