Hair Today, Groom Tomorrow

They say that in these economic times, the one way to reinvent yourself without splurging on outfit after outfit is to have strong signature hair. So, with the approach of what is sure to be yet another sizzling summer, the question arises: what are the upcoming tonsorial trends?!

Well, the utmost paramount look appears to be anything with length: for women and men! ‘Length is a must this season, but not flat oh no!’ explained Glenn Tucker from Element Aveda Concept in Subiaco. ‘Deep rooted body is what it’s all about. So those warm spring and cool summer nights swing your hair over your shoulders for that smoldering addition to your LBD!’

‘Length in men is on the way back,’ agreed Mark Cain from the ever-so-chic Head Studio on King Street in Perth. ‘Enhance it with some natural colour, just very slight natural tones. Almost sun kissed. Balayage is the technique Head Studio uses for this affect. This look is suited more for the fashionable guy. If you are going to go short, keep it CLASSIC. American Crew have created a great style and the classic man should look to that direction.’

Of course, great hair is only achievable if it is in great condition. ‘Condition is the key,’ explained Cain. ‘You can not make changes or get creative without great hair and the condition. Protect your hair from natural, chemical and environmental effects. If you style your hair with heat, please make sure you protect your hair with a good thermal protector. Heat is the biggest damaging effect on your hair.’

As is the sun. And the sun doesn’t get much nastier than in summer. There’s a 60% chance this spring and summer that temperatures will exceed those of last year, and will that comes the likelihood of greater UV rays. And these rays not only damage the skin, they damage the hair too.

‘Get yourself a great leave-in moisturiser or cream for your hair and summer will be as good as ever, still while looking fab,’ said Cain. ‘Make sure it aligns with a good hair care regime.’

‘Protect from our harmful rays by styling with Colour Conserve Foaming Leave-In to maintain the vibrancy of your colour,’ added Tucker. ‘With SPF 15 UV Protection and superior smoothing, your style is set to last.’

COLOUR FORECASTS

‘Natural feeling colours with lighter tones through the ends. A lot of golds and shimmering tones coming through. Long hair with natural movement will be a big feature of SS10.’ Mark Cain, Head Studio.

‘For your colour, melt warm fiery blondes into subtle violets both also being a perfect match for your already sumptuous browns.’ Glen Tucker, Element Aveda Concept.
