Forum on HIV Service Provision

The WA AIDS Council will be holding two independently facilitated forums for people living with HIV, to allow them to have their say on how HIV clinical services should be implemented in WA.

Held on Wednesday, October 14 and Saturday, October 17, the forums will aid the Department of Health in formulating their HIV/AIDS Implementation plan for 2009-2013 and will discuss topics such as the role of tertiary hospitals in HIV service delivery, the pros and cons of dispensing HIV drugs through community pharmacies and planning for the long-term survival of people living with HIV.

Both forums will be held from 9.30am to 2.30pm and lunch will be served, so those attending need to RSVP by phoning 9482 0000 or emailing kbrooklyn@waaids.com

LGBT Health Alliance Forum

WAAC will also be hosting a community forum on behalf of the National LGBT Health Alliance on Thursday, October 1 at Lotteries House in Delhi Street, West Perth.

The LGBT Health Alliance is a newly formed coalition of organisations from across Australia working to improve the heath and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other sexuality, sex and gender diverse people.

‘For too long, LGBT people have not had a community driven and unified voice in the federal arena. This has had a negative impact on particular elements of health and needs to be changed,’ said WAAC Executive Director, Trish Langdon.

The forum starts at 5.30pm and a light supper will be served. RSVP to tlangdon@waaids.com or 9482 0000. Further information about the LGBT Health Alliance is available at www.lgbthealth.org.au
