Connections Set for New Dawn

“It’s a small bar inside a nightclub; it’s an idea that has been fermenting for years,” Connections owner Tim Brown told OUTinPerth about the changes taking place inside one of James Street’s oldest venues.

“Its equal parts dirt and glitter; that’s what Connections is,” he said “think sparkly drag queens and leather men. The new bar has an industrial feel, there are recycled parts juxtaposed with shiny glamorous bits, smoked mirrors, high ceilings, comfortable couches and lots of places to view the gorgeous city skyline.”

The new bar will feature a well constructed cocktail list, a wine menu and tap beer which Brown said is an evolution reflecting a maturity in the Perth queer community and the nightlife scene as a whole.

“I have always believed that the way forward was small bars, I built one 15 years ago called Divebar, it was the first small bar in the city,” he said.

“Connections has always grown and evolved and this is part of that.”

Brown assures us that guests to the venue will continue to hear the same quality tunes selected by the club’s discerning disc jockeys that can be heard on the terrace, but at an inside setting.

The terrace and lounge will open at 8pm Wednesday to Saturday nights and during summer its planned there will be a Sunday session.

The official opening night is scheduled for Friday October 18.
