Will 'Wizards Vs Aliens' Get a Gay Character?

-The-Last-Day-wizards-vs-aliens-32882078-1600-1156UK children’s TV show ‘Wizards Vs Aliens’ is tipped to have one of it’s main characters come out.

The BBC series is currently screening the seconds series of the show which is written by Russell T Davies.

Davies is no stranger to creating gay characters having penned the original English version of ‘Queer as Folk’ and the gay turned straight mini-series ‘Bob and Rose’.

Davies was also at the helm of  the relaunch of the incredibly successful ‘Doctor Who’ where he created the bi-sexual character Captain Jack Harkness who got his own spin off show ‘Torchwood’.

The move follows advice the BBC was given outlining that children should be introduced to sexual diversity in their early years and that more LGBT characters on television will stop children feeling isolated, especially in rural areas.

It is believed that originally that Luke, a leading character  in Davies other TV show ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, was intended to come out as being gay, but the show was cancelled when lead actress Elizabeth Sladen passed away last year.

Wizards vs Aliens currently screens on ABC3 on Sunday afternoons.
