More Calls for 'Bamboozled' Film Maker to Appologise

02-Bamboozled-670x376Criticism of ‘Bamboozled’, the short film that took out the top prize at the Tropfest Film Festival, has continued. Actor, and former Rugby player, Ian Roberts has joined the chorus of LGBTI activists who have denounced the film.

Robert’s opinion piece published at Gay News Network said the film was putting lives at risk.

“This film is potentially very dangerous for those who have been dealing with their sexuality in a bad way and are possibly on the edge of self-harm. I could only image what those friends and family members would feel on seeing stuff like this.” wrote Roberts.

Meanwhile an online petition calling for a public apology from both the films creator Matt Hardie, and the Tropest festival has been launched online.

Curtin University graduate Matt Hardie has defend the film saying that it is a positive story for trans* people as it shows a straight man willing to “go there”.

“I was out to make a comedy first and foremost but I wasn’t out to make an offensive comedy towards gay people. I just wanted to show a situation where a guy got himself into a really uncomfortable situation that he was not used to,” Hardie told website news.com.au
