State of the Art Music Festival is set to expand this year with the introduction of SOTA Surrounds, a new concept for the festival in its third year.

The festival is presented by Celebrate WA in partnership with West Australian Music (WAM) and takes place on Saturday May 31st at the Perth Cultural Centre as part of the long weekend WA Day celebrations.

SOTA Surrounds is a free part of the festival that is open to all. PICA will be hosting the free stage that will be the location of a number of performances including the West Oz hip-hop showcase which includes Azmatik, BFumes, Selekt, Intrusive Thoughts and Two Worlds.

SOTA Surrounds will also include a number of free acts performing at pop up venues around the festival, including David Craft, Bernardine, Fox Cat Rabbit and The Ghost Hotel. There will also be a free audio-visual exhibition by artist Kynan Tan in the State Library of WA.

SOTA will use have 3 paid stages with headliners Drapht, Eskimo Joe and San Cisco, that will be joined by a lineup of iconic WA acts including The Stems, The Blackeyed Susans,The Kill Devil Hills and Kim Salmon, and emerging locals artists including Split Seconds, Bitter Belief, and Sable.
