Marriage Equality: How to contact your local member

At the Love in Perth rally for marriage equality on Sunday, Brian Greig from Australian Marriage Equality encouraged everyone to contact their local federal MP.

“On Monday, if you have not already done it, phone your federal member of parliament and tell them what you think.

“On Tuesday, email your federal member of parliament and tell them what you think.

“On Wednesday arrange a visit with your federal member of parliament and tell them what you think.

“On Thursday, tell your friends, your neighbours, your colleagues, your Mums, your Dads, your sisters and brothers to do exactly the same thing, and around it goes until we get to August.” Mr Greig encouraged protesters.

How do you find out who your local MP is and where they stand on the issue?

Head over to the Australian Marriage Equality site and enter in your post code and their automatic service will show you who your local member is, which Senators represent your area, and where they currently stand.
