Tiernan Brady to speak at the Disrupted Festival of Ideas

Tiernan Brady from the Equality campaign will be one of the speaker’s at Disrupted: The Festival of Ideas later this month.

Brady will join news presenter Narelda Jacobs for ‘Share the Love Mate’, a discussion about how does a minority right become a majority opinion?

Tiernan was the political director of the Irish marriage equality referendum campaign which saw Ireland become the first country in the world to introduce marriage equality by public vote.

He now heads Australia’s Equality campaign calling for the marriage laws to be changed.

Also appearing at the festival is diversity expert Conrad Liveris, Publisher Terry Ann White and DJ and broadcaster Rok Riley. There’ll be a live session of RTRFM’s popular Talk the Talk linguistics program. You can also catch comedian Zoë Coombs-Marr, social researcher Dr Rebecca Huntley and writer Sisonke Msimang.

The festival is on from Saturday 29 July to Sunday 30 July at the State Library of Western Australia. Download the full program from their website.

Tiernan Brady led Ireland’s ‘Yes’ campaign for marriage equality. Now he’s here in Australia as the head of Australians for Equality, one of the leading organisations fighting for our marriage rights.

Brady’s been talking about the importance of recognising LGBTI relationships for a long time, and he’s heard every argument against marriage equality.

The marriage equality advocate appeared on OUTinPerth’s podcast So Loquacious. Brady joined Graeme Watson and Leigh Andrew Hill for an in depth discussion about the issue of marriage equality.
