Emma Thompson made a dame in the Queen's birthday honours

Emma Thompson’s work as an actress has been acknowledged by Queen Elizabeth II. The acclaimed British actress was made a dame in the Queen’s Birthday honours.

Thompson’s film career has included a wide range of roles including Primary Colours, Sense and Sensibility, Saving Mr Banks and The Remains of the Day.

The author of Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro, was also among the honourees. He has been given an knighthood for his services to literature.

Actress Kiera Knightly was awarded an OBE, while Tom Hardy was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE).  Niomi McLean-Daley, who is better known as rapper Ms Dynamite, was awarded an MBE.
