Local singer Aminah Hughes nominated for music award

Western Australian singer Aminah Hughes has been nominated at the 17th Independent Music Awards in New York.

Her song Tell Me Its Over was a fan pick for Best Blues Song at the awards which are judged by an panel of well known performers including  Robert Smith, Gloria Gaynor, Lee Ann Womack and many industry journalists and music industry personnel.

Hughes recorded the song in Nashville, London and Ireland. The track features US gospels singers The McCrary Sisters.

The track appears on Hughes debut solo album Blue Wooden Boat which was released last year. The singer has appeared on many records by other artists, but this is the first time she’s released an album of her own.
