On Sunday 18th August the group will be undertaking the Zamia Walk in Bold Park, Reabold Hill to see the fresh wildflowers.

The walk is on from 8:30am – 3:00pm, its a Grad 2 walk that is 5km long. The group will be meeting at 8:30am for a 9am start.

The Zamia Trail is the longest of the walk trails around Bold Park in Floreat. You’ll walk through a very natural bush setting with occasional views of the ocean and the city. The wide trail easy although there are a few hilly sections.

Coordinator Ro says there should be quite a few birds out and the timing should be perfect for a spectacular array of spring wildflowers given the good rain this winter.

There are a wide range of plants including banksias, wattles, quandongs and other limestone loving plants such as the Cockies Tongue. Over 80 species of birds, brushtail possums, bats, frogs, and reptiles including geckos, lizards, skinks and snakes also inhabit the area.

The walk is 5km. Bring warm kit and be prepared for possible rain. participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, plenty of water to drink and optional snacks.

If you’re not a member yet, bring $5 for insurance for the walk or $10 for the remaining half year membership.
