Abbe May has joined the list of local artists donating their time to RTRFM’s In the Pines fundraiser. The annual concert held at the Somerville Auditorium at UWA raises essential funds for the community broadcaster.
This morning the station announced the third round of artists playing the iconic show, alongside Abbe May who is celebrating the release of her latest album Fruit, is a smorgasbord of local bands and artists.
The brain child of Hideous Sun Demon front man Vin Buchannan, Terrible Signal are set to bring their quick fire, full frontal indie pop to the Somerville. RTRFM say Vin’s distinct vocals and Australiana tinged song writing have found a home on their airwaves this year.
Hip hop artist Mathas will make his Pines debut. Which is surprising given his long association with the station. Described as one of Australia’s finest wordsmiths, the station said Mathas is; “everything that is wonderful about the WA music scene: talented, humble and fully aware of the country in which he lives.” Mathas will be joined by long time collaborators for a full band experience.
Also announced this morning, rockers Foam, al-country band The Kill Devil Hills, while Umpire and Mukiazake will be reforming and playing a joint set. The two bands share the three quarters of the same members.
They’ll all join the line up alongside Furchick, The Tommyhawks, Demon Days, Mile End, Bolt Gun, Thee Loose Hounds, Nerve Quakes, Em Burrows and Web Rumor, The Pipeline Band, Lucy Peach, Grievous Bodily Calm and Sex Panther.
