STORMIN’ LIKE STORMIE
We have some undeniable powerhouses of talent here in Western Australia, a veritable role call of awesomeness across many fields (think Danny Green, Dr Fiona Stanley, John Kinsella etc etc). When it comes to street art, one name is the top of that game: Stormie Mills. This March Stormie returns to LK Galleries in Subiaco with 100 x 150, an exhibition of work which explores the streets of New York. His usual flair for dark and brooding character work is there, yes, but so are yellow cabs, Central Park snack stands, Macy telephones and all manner of Big Apple-isms. Sure to be yet another success. www.lkgalleries.com.au

RONA’S IRON MAIDENS
Rona Chadwick takes the humble ironing board and transforms it them into landscapes of female strength and beauty. Her work delves into the archetypes of the Women’s Movement and creates an iconography of activism based here in WA. The result is Mirror Image, an exhibition taking place at DoC Gallerys in Maylands from March 5 to 7. Get ready to explore female socialisation from a unique perspective, one that is sure to iron out any creases the topic might have.

THE REVOLUTION WILL BE WORN
Elizabeth Delfs is a unique and incredibly talented young artist. Her work is based on fashion which shifts between the architectural and the sculptured, clothes that could be worn only by someone who has the gall of Lady Gaga. Think tulle concertinaed into delicate prisms of mathematical elegance, objects that consume with a desire to be worn. These are works that beguile, that are strong and exciting, making Delfs an artist to watch out for. Her exhibition opens at Free Range Gallery from March 4 to 16. www.elizabethdelfs.com

THE VERA LYNN SONGBOOK
It’s a tribute sure to take you back in time as Julia Jenkins presents a nostalgic journey of Dame Vera Lynn’s songs. Think hope and fortitude and standing strong ala Britain in World War II and you’re on the right path. Think songs like White Cliffs of Dover and I’ll Be Seeing You. Think a critically acclaimed performer like Jenkins joined by the likes of Tim Cunniffe and you’re on your way to imagining an amazing performance which encapsulates the spirit of The Force’s Sweetheart. After that, the only thing left to do is experience it on Wednesday March 24 Downstairs at His Majesty’s. www.bocsticketing.com.au
