Singer Camila Cabello will take on the title role, while there are rumours that Wicked star Idina Menzel is in talks to sign on as the evil stepmother.

Porter confirmed their involved in the project to the USA’s Today show, after mentioning it during a Q&A on the weekend. The idea for the project came from late night talk host James Corden.

Porter seems like a great choice for the role, given his recent red carpet appearances, we know he can choose an eye-catching outfit.

Cabello will be involved in creating the music for the project. The story of Cinderella has previously been made in the classic Disney animation and it’s also been adapted for television and the Broadway stage.

The 1950 animated drama has received two live-action remakes. In 1997 Brandy and Whitney Houston made a TV special, and Kenneth Branagh’s 2015 version with Lily James grossed $543 million worldwide at the box office.

This new reimaging of the tale though will portray Cinderella as a young woman struggling to make her way in the world.
