Bob Katter says the focus should be on crocodiles not gay marriage

Queensland MP Bob Katter has delivered one of the most bizzare reactions to the results of the marriage equality postal survey.

Speaking to reporters last week the colourful MP said he wished gay couples who would now be able to get married happiness.

“I mean, people are entitled to their sexual proclivities,” Katter said. “Let there be a thousand blossoms bloom, as far as I’m concerned.”

The MPs tone suddenly changed though, and he declared that he would not be focusing on the issue.

“But I ain’t spending any time on it, because in the mean time, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in North Queensland.”

Check out the clip below.

The clip put the political commentators on ABC’s Insider’s program into stitches and drew a lot of comments on social media.
