Pete Fares and his partner Matt Cook shared their video with friends on Facebook.

The couple, who both work at Dance Collective, were at the group’s end-of-year Christmas function when they went down to Bather’s Beach in Fremantle to pose for a group photo.

Suddenly Pete surprised Matt by getting down on one knee and asking for his hand in marriage.

Speaking to OUTinPerth after the event Pete told us that only their boss Charisse Parnell was in on the plan.

“It was pretty surreal, I never thought I’d be in that position.” Matt said.

While the couple had talked about the future previously, Matt always thought he’d be the one doing the proposing.

“We had an agreement that he was supposed to propose to me, but I just flipped it.” Pete said of his surprise move.

Each year the staff at Dance Collective get together for an end of year lunch, and usually head down to The Left Bank for a few drinks afterwards.

This year Matt suggested a group photo be added to the festivities, and Pete realised here was a chance to surprise his boyfriend, the only challenge was he had to nervously wait through the three hour lunch.

“I’m usually a party animal, but at the staff party I only had one beer, and I was just sitting down the whole time.”

The Left Bank also got behind the couple’s engagement, supplying the photographer to capture the moment.

The couple have been together for three years, and first met through the social dating site Tindr. Check out there gorgeous video below – good luck for the future!
