Flying Scotsman Still Open Despite Building Challenges

photo (3)One of the local community’s favourite venues had to close suddenly last night due to some structural problems. The Flying Scotsman in Mount Lawley was evacuated after the upstairs floor reportedly moved significantly.  The Defector’s Bar was hosting the launch of the popular Beaufort Street Festival at the time of the incident.

This evening the venue continued to operate opening only the Velvet Lounge room at the rear of the venue.

Commentators on social media were quick to make light of the situation and the establishment’s well known hipster clientele, one commentator noted that the opening of the Beaufort Street festival may have drawn too many egos, while others thought it might have been the combined weight of so many people wearing scarves. Quick witted individuals also noted that it may be linked to the state governments plan’s to split the local government authorities – the Flying Scotsman is located on the convergence point of three local government authorities.
