The longstanding Gay and Lesbian Badminton Club is ceasing after numerous years in operation; with the local community centre unable to accommodate for the needs of the club.

The Rise Community Centre in Maylands has been open for a year following recent renovations, growing popularity within the centre meant that the clubs 6pm Wednesday slot was no longer available.
Club co-ordinator Dallas Robertson said the demand to move slots has rendered the club not viable – ‘We started getting good numbers again and then they asked to make it a Friday night – hell no!’ The Manager of The Rise declined to comment.
