Jordan Raskopoulos asks NO voters to reconsider

Jordan Raskopoulos from Axis of Awesome has published a heartfelt video asking Australians who are planning to vote ‘No’ in the marriage survey to reconsider their decision.

The comedian said the argument that all children need to be raised by their biological mother and father was insulting not only to rainbow families but also to single parents, people who are adopted or raised by aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Raskopoulos put forward a compelling argument why people should vote ‘yes’ and show their support for families that do not fit into the model of a nuclear family.

The comedian said the current debate triggered by the government’s decision to hold a nationwide postal survey had emboldened the worst elements of society.

“The very fact that we are having this vote and this debate is emboldening the most bigoted and hateful elements of our community.” Raskopoulos said.

“Look at what is being said, and look at what is being done, and imagine if the ‘No’ vote wins. I’m very afraid of what will happen if we lose because I feel I will become less safe, and I feel that all LGBTIQA+ people, and their families will become less safe.”

The comedian said people should approach the decision and ask themselves if they believe that someone has the right to believe in something different?
