KT Tunstall kicks the album off with clean and sunshiny tunes, cruisy laidback rock and roll, perfect for cruising on a clear-skied summer’s day. Her vocals bring to mind Sheryl Crow, without the history of depression, and Lisa Loeb, without the funky frames. KT warbles repetitive chorus vocals with easily recognisable guitar rifts. Just as you settle in for some happy-go-lucky background music, KT branches out with the poetic and poetically sung White Bird, which leads perfectly into the quirky, but catchy sounds of Funny Man and claptastic Hold On. As the album progresses, KT shows that she can speed it up and slow it down, though she never loses sight of the summer day she’s singing into. –Megan Smith
