Larry Kramer Ties the Knot

Larry_Kramer_2_by_David_Shankbone-001Respected gay activist and author Larry Kramer has we his longtime partner David Webster.

The couple wed in the Intensive Care Unit of a New York Hospital where Mr Kramer is recovering from recent surgery for a bowel obstruction.

The couple have been together since the mid 1990’s. The couple had planned to wed on the terrace of their Greenwich Village apartment but Kramer’s recent hospitalisation forced  change of plans.

Kramer is best known for his Tony Award winning play ‘A Normal Heart’ which focused on the apathy gay men in the early days of the AIDS crisis. Kramer co-founded the Gay Men’s Health Crisis which was one of the largest private organisations to provide help to HIV positive gay men at the height of the AIDS crisis.  Kramer is also known for his 1978 novel ‘Fagots’ highlighted the superficial nature of gay relationships in the 1970’s.
