SceneOUT #109

So, darling, you’re not really a star until you’ve appeared on an international stage now are you darling? Simple answer: no. So which little superstar in the making happened to find himself on the stage at Glastonbury, performing alongside some of the biggest names in the hot tranny mess business, including Johnny Woo and Ryan Styles (if you don’t recognise the names crawl back under your rock)? Yes, Ash Baroque did his Glastonbury debut just gone, blitzing away the crowd in a spectacular show.

Fur Ball is happening at Connections Nightclub on Saturday August 7. It’s another Shameless shindig, and this time it’s all about throwing a little fur – fake or otherwise – on yourself and calling it fabulous. Fabulous? Fabulous. For those that dare to bare and dress it up a little, you could enter for a chance to win a hot cash prize of $250 or some runner up prize packs courtesy of For Play & Pleasure and Spank. What wins? Flesh, sex appeal, originality and eff-ort! So cavemen, Vikings, animals, pimps, Hollywood stars or fur hags like the Olson twins are all fair game. Get your polysexual on and get ready to party, because this is going to be fun. DJs include Tintin and guests.

DJ Paul Heron returns to Perth on Friday August 13. Maybe this time he won’t end up shagging my brother. One can only hope. What is sure is that he’ll be dropping some big fat London inspired beats, making Famous Fridays all the more famous. Feminem Hygiene will be getting fresh with the likes of Fab Panache up on the stage for a night of small feminine hands. So much fun you might prolapse.

Ah, Glee. How the gays love you. All singing. All dancing. You make us feel shiny and new. And now it appears Glee is coming to a stage near you. Yes, streetlight people, don’t stop believing because the old girls are back on stage. And when I say old I’m talking about Barbie, Feminem, Swish, Dita and Sheila Mann. It’s going to be a show filled with all the hit songs you know and love from the TV show. Undoubtedly someone will be playing the wizened Sue Sylvester. Who? All will be revealed on Saturday August 14 when it opens at Connections Nightclub. Show runs until August 28.

Friday August 20 is Famous Fridays for RTR FM Radiothon. It’s going to be a rather large night featuring some of the best RTR DJs around including Massiv Trav and Devo. The crew from All Things Queer will be on hand to chat up a storm about, well, all things queer. They’ll also be raising money for RTR FM. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the usual madness and mayhem of the Connections Crew. Of particular note is the fact that Feminem Hygiene will be joined by the one and only Ms Glitter Giselle aka The Giselle aka Asia aka stylist d’jour. Comes complete with subtitles and outrageous fashion.

Looking for a little community spirit darling? Well look no further than Club West’s 21st Birthday happening on Saturday August 21. It will feature some truly amazing talent in the form of funny lady Swish, the ever vivacious and outrageous hot gender mess that is Ash Baroque and the uber edgy yet super glamorous Strykermeyer

Wanna get Bent? Then head down to Bar 138 and get your non-straight fun on. It’s a queer evening featuring a whole host of fun from the Bar 138. Be sure to pop up to Connections afterwards with your free entry.

It’s time for the Glammys! Pride WA’s MASKerade Ball is a formal ball being held at The Riverside Ballroom at the Novotal Langley Hotel on Saturday August 28. Narelda Jacobs will be in attendance, leading the night as MC, while those music makers a plenty Hit Factory will be pumping out the tracks. Tickets will include a three course dinner, after-dinner coffee as well as free beer, wine and soft drink for the entire night. Most exciting thing about the evening is that it will also be when and where they announce the Glammy winners for 2010. All attendees must wear a mask.

Flying into town this month for her Australian layover is the super sized Pam Ann. Yes, the queen of the international runway will be making an appearance at The Astor Cinema on Tuesday August 17, packing a few extra Pucci riding hats for the trip across. Expect colour, movement, and plenty of full body x-ray scans, sans floating nude pasty bits. Oh, and she’s sure to smuggle in some incredibly dry and witty commentary about the current state of international air travel, including giant clouds of volcanic ash. Be there to split your sides, not your swallowed condoms.

Have fun!

Love
