Season 2 of ballroom drama Pose walks onto screens this June

Creator Ryan Murphy has revealed that the second season of groundbreaking trans-focused drama Pose will return to screens this June.

The debut season takes audiences back to New York in the 1980s, shining a spotlight on the thriving ballroom scene and the gender diverse community that celebrates it.

Pose made television history last year with its record-breaking roles of transgender representation. Main cast members MJ Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson and Indya Moore brought trans visibility to the screen, while US transgender legends Our Lady J and Janet Mock told trans stories from behind the camera.

Season 2 will jump forward to the 1990s, opening o the release of Madonna’s iconic single Vogue. The story will look at the effects POC and trans-centric ballroom world leaking into the mainstream, and the rising tensions surrounding the developing AIDS crisis.

Murphy also revealed earlier this year that Broadway legend Patti Lupone would be joining the already stellar cast in an unknown role, alongside Rodriguez, Jackson and Moore and fellow returning cast members Billy Porter, Angelica Ross, Sandra Bernhard and Hailie Sahar.

Pose Season 2 will air on FX in the US on Sunday 9th June. Stay tuned for updates on where the season will be airing in Australia.
