Leigh joined the team in February of 2015 as part of a university placement, leading to a full time position as of June the same year.

In 2016 Leigh became the co-editor of OUTinPerth, he is a partner is Speirins Media the company that owns the publication.

Leigh is passionate about community building, and hopes to continue to develop OUTinPerth as a touchstone for connection for WA’s LGBTIQ+ community as well as queer people around Australia and beyond.

Leigh was also named as a nominee in Out For Australia’s LGBTI+ Role Model Awards in 2018, and has shared his experiences as a community journalist and advocate at a number of local events. In 2020 Leigh joined the rest of the OUTinPerth team in accepting the Media Award at the WA Mental Health Awards. In 2021 Leigh was a nominee in the Western Australian of the Year Awards.

Leigh is also a producer and presenter for RTRFM 92.1 All Things Queer program. Leigh spends his free time trying to play through his video game collection, seeking out the best and worst TV has to offer, and trying on his friend’s new wigs.

DSC_0120Graeme Watson – Managing Editor

Graeme Watson joined OUTinPerth as the publication’s editor in January 2011. He began his writing career in 1998 at Metior, the student guild publication at Murdoch University.

He has a long history working in the fields of film, television, theatre and journalism.  For over a decade he was a regular presenter on RTRFM 92.1, nowadays he volunteers behind the scenes working on fundraising and mentoring.

Graeme regularly appears on radio and TV across Australia talking about LGBTIQ+ issues.

In 2016 Graeme Watson and Leigh Hill formed Speirins Media and took over the publication of OUTinPerth. In addition to creating OUTinPerth, the company also provides writing services to a range of clients and publications. Alongside his work at OUTinPerth Graeme is a staff member at Edith Cowan University, and is a member of Pride WA.
