Equal Love WA

What – Equal Love WA is a new campaign that was launched last month after a series of planning forums. The aim of Equal Love WA is to highlight the need for further law reforms for Western Australia’s de facto couples, and explore ways in which such law reforms could be achieved.

Who ‘ This group gets its strength from the community from community involvement -so you and me. Equal Love was started following a gathering of like minded people who attended a forum hosted by Hon Giz Watson MLC and Hon Louise Pratt MLC. At that initial forum, a list was formed of individuals who were prepared to work together on a campaign for relationship recognition.

Where ‘ So far there has been a website, www.equallovewa.info and a paper produced that gives a very detailed outline of the various ways same-sex relationships are recognised around the globe.

Why ‘ If you believe that having relationship recognition is important and you would like to be a part of any work that needs to be done in the future visit the website.

When ‘ There are currently no events planned however, with elections looming at a Federal and State level and platforms for all parties being constantly developed the time is now to get motivated to lobby our politicians and work with the respective political parties towards an outcome for true relationship recognition that we all are happy with. As the group is only new it will take some organising to get some workshops off the ground, there also needs to be some real injection of passion behind this group to get keep up the momentum, so why not get involved?
