Warren, who formed the Adelaide based company in 1993 was excited to announce that Jaber would be his successor.

“I’m proud to say that since we began Leigh Warren Dance we have constantly evolved, entertained and challenged our audience so I see the appointment of Daniel as an extension of LWD’s vision and another exciting part of the journey for our audience,” Mr Warren said.

Jaber performed in Perth last year when Australian Dance Theatre presented ‘G‘, their radical reworking of Giselle. Jaber is the only choreographer aside from Gary Stewart to create a full length work for Australian Dance Theatre during Stewart’s tenure as Artistic Director.

Jaber said that under his tenure the work created by the company was bound to be different, but he saw a link between his style and that of the company’s founder.

“Leigh and I are different people with different backgrounds so there will obviously be a contrast in the subject matter and themes in future LWD work but I believe there will also be a strong sense of continuity as well. My work will be informed by the same dance literacy, dance styles and dance technique foundation I’ve always admired Leigh’s work.” Jaber said.
