Pride in Diversity

curtin-pid-awardsTwo of Western Australia’s universities have been acknowledged at the annual Pride in Diversity Awards.

While Goldman Sachs was named Australia’s best LGBTIQ employer, Curtin University came in second and the University of Western Australia was also in the top 20 list.

Curtin’s Vice Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry welcomed the award and singled out the contribution of Sally Webster who also won an individual award.

“Sally has worked to promote and imbed LGBTI inclusion and support at Curtin. Her passion and commitment for engaging others in promoting social justice for LGBTI people has helped create Curtin’s Diverse Sexuality and Gender Identity Inclusion Strategy and the Ally Program.” Professor Terry said.

Beverly Hill, the Associate Director of Equality and Diversity at the University of Western Australia welcomed their inclusion on the list. Hill said that an inclusive campus is a good thing for students, staff and the wider community.
