Discussing the cross-party bill for marriage equality put forward in collaboration with Tasmanian independent Andrew Wilkie and The Greens Adam Bandt, McGowan said regardless of whether you ask urban or regional Australia – people want marriage equality.

“We’ve come together with a plea to the government of Australia,” McGowan said, “Please listen to what most of the people in Australia are saying. Do Something. Act now. Sort this out.”

McGowan shared comments she’d received from a local Bishop advocating for marriage equality and a message from a sixteen year old boy from her electorate.
