A Christian group is demanding Netflix cancels the new series Good Omens because it is offensive to their religious beliefs.

The group Return to Order, has encouraged thousands of people to sign their online petition asking for the multi-million dollar TV series to taken off the streaming service, but there’s a slight problem.

The show is not on Netflix, it screens on rival streaming service Amazon Prime.

Good Omens is based on the popular novel written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The story follows the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, who, being accustomed to life on Earth, seek to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and with it Armageddon, the final battle between Heaven and Hell.

David Tennant and Michael Sheen star in the series alongside Miranda Richardson, Jack Whitehall, Frances McDormand, and Jon Hamm.

Return to Order argue that broadcasting the series encourages satanism and mocks God. AMong their concerns is that in the show angels and demons develop friendships, God is portrayed as a woman, and the four riders of the apocalypse are bikers.

The streaming service has responded to the petition, Netflix took to Twitter to announce that they would not be making any future episodes of the series, while Amazon Prime (who actually make the show) promised not to make any more episodes of the Netflix series Stranger Things.

The organisation behind the protest has now updated their website to reflect the correct broadcaster for the series.
