The singer released her newest song The Gate overnight and the video for the tune will have its premiere during London Fashion Week this weekend.

The song is the first taste from the singer’s as yet unnamed ninth solo album which be released soon.  Björk’s last album was Vulnicura which came out in 2015.

Björk has described the new tune as a love song.

The Gate is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way. Vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love – but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.” Björk said.

The album sees the singer teaming up once again with Venezuelan producer Arca, who she also collaborated with one her previous album.

The singer has previously collaborated with a wide range of producers including Nelle Hooper, Howie B, Talvin Singh, Graham Massey, Guy Sigsworth, Tricky, Timbaland and Mark Bell.

Prior to launching her solo career Björk was the lead singer of The Sugarcubes, who brought out three albums in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Björk also released a solo album when she was a child, and a jazz inspired record in her native Iceland.
