Hot Potatoes! (July-August)

NCIS

(Tues Aug 21, Ten – 8:30pm)

Yet another cop show cashing in on the public hunger for cadaver-intensive dramas. Not as clever as CSI or as pretty-man intensive as CROSSING JORDAN, NCIS falls somewhere in the middle of the forensics heap. However, Michael Weatherly, who plays NCIS’ dreamy detective Tony DiNozzio, is certainly hot enough to give Jerry O’Connell’s frequently flesh-flashing cop some competition.

NUMBERS

(Tues Aug 21, Ten – 9:30pm)

Rob Morrow, formerly the (somewhat frostbitten) lead of the quirky Alaskan drama NORTHERN EXPOSURE, plays an FBI Agent whose cases revolve around complicated math problems or numerical codes. Fortunately for Rob, his brother (SERENITY’s David Krumholtz) just happens to be a college mathematical prodigy who helps him solve cases. And if either of these mathemagicians are too REVENGE OF THE NERDS for your taste, the show also crunches the numbers in its favour with Dylan Bruno as Carl, the shows non-math geek hottie. I wouldn’t mind if the show added some more interest by subtracting Carl’s clothing.
