In The Pines is Approaching

DSC_0167RTRFM’s iconic annual fundraiser ‘In the Pines’ is on this Sunday, it’s the 21st presentation of the concert that showcases local music.

Presented in the peaceful surrounds of the tree-lined Sommerville Auditorium at the University of Western Australia the concert is one of the highlights of the local music calendar.

This year a stack of local bands are set to take to the stage to support the community broadcaster.

On the line-up is Antelope, Bill Darby, The Community Cherst, Dianas, DM3, The Floors, Flower Drums, Golden String, Gunns, The HIgh Learys, The Kill Devil Hills, Leaches!, Moana, The Morning Night, Mt Mountain, Mudlark, Pat Chow, Rabbit Island, Runner and Scalphunter.

‘In the Pines’ is a really great way to check out a heap of bands in one day, as each plays a short 20 minutes set. There are only short breaks between each band as they flip between two stages.

The concert will also be broadcast live on the day between 11am and 10pm. All the bands play for free and the money raised goers towards paying the bills at RTRFM. The community radio station presents the ‘All Things Queer’ program for the LGBT community on Monday nights from 10pm.

Tickets are available from the station’s website. A mixtape of all the bands performing is presented below.

Declaration: OUTinPerth’s Editor Graeme Watson is a presenter at RTRFM presenting the programs ‘Artbeat’, ‘Disco Science’ and ‘Golden Apples of the Sun’.
