Pride Confirms Dates and Venues for 2007 Festival

Pride’s 2007 Festival “Imagine… One better world” will be launched on Thursday, September 20 at The Court Hotel. Everyone’s favourite, The City of Perth Pride Fairday in Russell Square will follow on Sunday, September 30.

‘We are still waiting for community groups to confirm events that will be held throughout the month, but it looks like being a wonderful Festival,’ said Female Co-president and Festival Co-convenor, Tanya Croft.

‘Our film season will be held once again at Cinema Paradiso from October 7 to 17 and we are currently finalising the films.’

The Women of Pride Subcommittee have also secured a vessel for a rivercruise, an event that was very popular amongst the ladies in 2005. “Women in Uniform 2” will be held on Sunday, October 7.

‘These are just some of the events the community can look forward to during October,’ said Tanya Croft.

Community groups and others wanting to hold an event are reminded to get their information to the Pride committee by the end of July to ensure they are included in the Festival Guide.

The Pride Festival will conclude on Saturday, October 27 with the Pride Parade and Official After Party at Belmont Racecourse.

Looking for a Few Good Volunteers

The 2007 Pride Committee has also called for members of the community to get involved with this year’s festival as volunteers. Volunteers are needed to make the featival’s events a success, including the popular Fairday, Parade and Party.

Dean Cahill, who recently stepped in as Pride WA’s Male Co-President said he would like to see the entire community involved in this year’s Pride, especially as the theme focuses on unity. ‘Pride doesn’t survive without the fantastic assistance from our volunteers. We need as many volunteers as possible to make this year’s festival a huge success. After all, it is not Pride’s event. It is your event.’

If you are interested in volunteering, you can contact Pride on 9427 0828 during business hours or email pride@pridewa.asn.au.
