StyleAID : Calling all Emerging Designers!

It’s that time of year again – STYLEAID 2009, Western Australia’s premier fashion event is looking for four Western Australian emerging fashion labels/designers to be presented on the runway alongside the 12 established Western Australian fashion designers.

STYLEAID has now been running successfully for the past 11 years and in this time we have introduced to the runway many of Western Australia’s outstanding designers such as One Fell Swoop, Of Cabbages and Kings, Belle Bijoux and Alister Yiap. Continuing with that tradition STYLEAID is once again seeking new designers to put themselves forward to be part of the event this year.

All four emerging designers will be featured in the popular STYLEAID website www.styleaid.com.au, and in the STYLEAID magazine style program as well as presenting their collection on the runway.

The selection process is due to begin in April with a panel of industry judges led by STYLEAID stylist Aly May and including Sonia and Silvana from Su design (one of WA’s iconic fashion labels).

Sitting along side the new designers this year STYLEAID has invited each of the design colleges in Perth to engage their final year design students to come up with come conceptual fashion around this year’s theme of WOW. For the past few years the amazing talent of final year designers did not make it onto the STYLEAID catwalk. This year it has been decided that with so much great talent coming from WA design colleges was time to include student work in the mix of what is presented on the catwalk on the night.

‘This will bring yet another dimension to the mix as these designers are not as constrained by the commercial interests that can take hold once they leave college – ensuring some brilliantly artistic fashion on the catwalk for the opening of the parade,’ Aly May STYLEAID stylist said.

‘STYLEAID is always looking to bring the latest, hottest and best fashion to the catwalk and this year will be no different.’

Tickets for the event this year will go on sale in May but already the buzz is starting and pre bookings are already going through the roof with nearly all of the VIP tables already sold.

STYLEAID 2009 will bring together the best of Western Australian fashion to assist in raising funds for education, prevention, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS here in Western Australia. This year’s event will be held at the Burswood Resort in the Grand Ballroom on Friday 31 July.
