The tour will feature original band members Sy Bartholemew and Andrew Levy will be joined by singer Angela Ricci.

Pioneers of the London Acid Jazz scene, The Brand New Heavies, have been responsible for some of the UK’s biggest R&B and soul tracks of the time.

They hit the US top 5 singles chart with their hit Never Stop from their self-titled debut album.

They continued to gain momentum in the UK and US into the 90s with tracks such as Stay This Way, Dream on Dreamer and Sometimes and establishing the Heavies as a musical force. They went on to collaborate with artists such as Grand Puba, Kool G. Rap and Gang Starr’s Guru.

The band featured a rotation of singers during their heyday. N’Dea Davenport, Carleen Anderson and Siedah Garrett have all fronted the band at different times.

The band’s most recent album, that came out earlier this year, features N’dea Davenport, Angie Stone, Beverley Knight and Siedah Garrett all taking turns on voals.

Australian fans can expect to hear all their big hits including Dream On Dreamer, Back To Love, Midnight At The Oasis, Sometimes and many more.

Joining The Heavies on tour are the reunited APRA-Awarded acid jazz legends, D.I.G. (Directions In Groove) playing all the great songs from their multiple ARIA Top 10 albums.

The tour will start in Perth at the Astor Theatre on 21st June before heading to Canberra’s Southern Cross Club on 24th June, The Enmore Theatre in Sydney on 25th June, Brisbane’s Tivoli Theatre on 26th June, before winding up at The Palais in Melbourne on 27th June.

Tickets to the shows are available from Abstract Entertainment
