8:42pm: ABC are now predicting Labor will end the night with 40 seats, with the Liberals taking 13 and 6 for the Nats.

8:39pm: Antony Green: “One Nation will struggle to get a seat in the Upper House”.


8:36pm: Antony Green has noted that The Greens have outperformed what was expected of them in the polls at around 8.9% of the vote, while One Nation have fallen short of predictions.


8:28pm: Shadow Attorney General John Quigley has retained the seat of Butler.


8:26pm: Speaker of the lower house Michael Sutherland will not return to government as Labor’s Simon Millman looks to win the seat of Mount Lawley.


8:25pm: Deputy Premier Liza Harvey has kept her safe Liberal seat in Scarborough.


8:14pm: At current count, the Liberal Party have retained 15 seats and Labor have accumulated a total of 38 while the National Party have six.


8:12pm: Bunbury will now be represented by Labor’s Don Punch in the Legislative Assembly.


8:02pm: Amber Jade Sanderson of Labor has seen a massive swing in the seat of Morley, taking her from the upper house to the Legislative Assembly.


8:00pm: Labor’s Sabine Winton has taken the seat of Wanneroo from Liberal MP Paul Miles with a swing of 20.5%.



7:53pm: Transport Minister Bill Marmion has kept the seat of Nedlands for the Liberal Party.


7:51pm: ABC have estimated the swing towards WA Labor is at 9.9%, but  predict that will probably end up being a larger number.


7:50pm: Stephen Price has nabbed the eastern seat of Forrestfield for Labor.


7:43pm: ABC say Speaker of the lower house and Liberal MP Michael Sutherland may lose the seat of Mount Lawley to his Labor counterpart Simon Millman.


7:38pm: Shadow Treasurer Ben Wyatt, nephew of federal Liberal MP Ken Wyatt, has kept his job representing Victoria Park for Labor.


7:34pm: ABC’s election expert Antony Green has called the election for Labor, and predicts Mark McGowan will be our new Premier.


7:30pm: Jessica Shaw has captured Swan Hills for WA Labor.


7:28pm: 6PR are calling the election for Mark McGowan and Labor.


7:26pm: Liberal John McGrath has kept his seat of South Perth while Labor look to have taken Forrestfield.


7:22pm: Long time opponent of the LGBTIQ community Peter Abetz has conceded the seat of Southern River.


7:21pm: The West Australian have called Bateman for incumbent MP and potential future Liberal leader Dean Nalder, and Toni Buti keeps Armadale for Labor.



7:10pm: “I think Liberals will be a little disappointed with how the night has started.” – Federal Liberal Senator Dean Smith.


7:06pm: Speaking on ABC’s election panel, the federal member for Perth Tim Hammond says Labor is ready to call the state seat of Perth for the former Mayor of Vincent John Carey.
