Second attempt for WA Day celebrations

The WA government has rescheduled its massive WA Day concert after the event was washed out back in June.

Promising to serve as a celebration for the start of summer the concert will now take place on Sunday 24th of November.

When the concert was announced earlier in the year the government was hit with a wave of criticism after they booked Guy Sebastian to headline the gig. It left many people asking if a Western Australian artist would not have been more appropriate for WA Day festivities.

Eskimo Joe

That criticism must have resonated because the line up announced by Premier Roger Cook on Friday morning is distinctly locally focussed.

At the top of the bill is Eskimo Joe, who will play alongside Great Gable, Noah Dillon, Maatakitj, Angie Colman, and Anna Schneider. The local music line-up has been curated by RTRFM, with one further big-name WA artist to be announced in coming weeks.

“We’re kicking off the summer season early this year, giving families across Perth a free day of top-quality WA music to celebrate.” the premier said on Friday.

“We promised to bring the WA Day Festival back later this year, and we’re delivering on that promise.

“WA has some of the best musicians in the world, and this festival will be an opportunity to showcase icons like Eskimo Joe, as well as up-and-coming artists from across the State.”

The family-friendly festival held in Burswood Park will offer a range of entertainment and attractions, including WA’s largest drone show, fireworks, carnival rides, food trucks and other attractions.
