Behind the Scenes of 'The Faces of STYLEAID' 2008 Photo Shoot

Each year around this time the work begins on the images that will form the basis for the advertising, tickets, website and invitations for STYLEAID – and this year is no exception!

With a call going out to all of the top model agencies in Perth for new talent who could be the male and female faces of STYLEAID, the search began.

One of the fortunate things about being in Perth is that we have a plethora of amazing modelling talent on offer and so it was no easy task finding the two faces to represent the event this year.

After scouring through a range of head shots sent over from the agencies, Josh (16) and Yasmine Jellef (20) were selected to represent the 2008 event.

Josh, from Vivien’s, is a new face to the Perth modelling scene, having only just finished high school. Josh’s care-free spirit and piercing blue eyes won the hearts of the StyleAID committee from the word ‘Hello’.

Joining him is Yasmine, from Scene. Yasmin modelled in Switzerland for 6 months where she was a regular on the runway circuit. Her fashion and catwalk experience will be of major benefit to the StyleAID team in the lead up to the big event on July 18.

Following the selection the models made their way to the AIDS Council to prepare for the photo shoot. The usual hair, make up, fittings, and vision checks were all coordinated by stylist extraordinaire Aly May, whose vision once again inspired those of us working on the day.

This year’s ‘Face of StyleAID’ shots were taken by a dynamic duo who have been keen supporters of STYLEAID for many years – Ian and Erick Regnard of Tungsten photo. Soon to head overseas to shoot Bruce Springsteen and Kofi Annan for an upcoming campaign in New York, the internationally acclaimed pair are in demand around the world. The creativity, diversity and professionalism of Ian and Erick will ensure that this year’s STYLEAID promotional images are world class.

Having raised over $500,000 in the past 10 years as the number one fashion fundraising event here in Perth, StyleAID promises to once again outshine all its predecessors in its 11th year, as it creates another memorable night to raise much needed funds for the WA AIDS Council in their fight to find a cure.

Watch out over the next few months in the lead up to the event for a range of upcoming articles in OiP highlighting various aspects of STYLEAID to keep you up to date with all the news and views, designers, stars, tickets, and more!
