Kim Davis released from jail

Davis was held in contempt of court after she refused to issue marriage licenses, or allow deputies under her supervision to issue licences to same sex couples.

Davis left the jail and took to the stage to the sound of the Survivor track ‘Eye of the Tiger’. The band has since stated that they did not given permission for their tune to be used.

“I just want to give God the glory,” Davis said. “His people have rallied and you are a strong people. We serve a living God who knows exactly where each and every one of us is at. Just keep on pressing. Don’t let down. Because he is here; he is worthy; he’s worthy. I love you guys. Thank you so much.”

Davis was flanked by US Republican Presidential candidate Governor Mike Huckabee, who later uploaded a picture with Davis to his Instagram account (pictured).

Governor Huckabee said Davis had shown great courage and that he would go to jail in her place.

“If somebody needs to go to jail, I’m willing to go in her place, and I mean that,” Huckabee said. “I’m tired of watching people being harassed because they believe something of their faith.”

The clerk’s lawyers are arguing that marriage licences issued while she has been in jail are not valid.

  1. I wouldn’t be impressed either if my music was used without permission. Clearly this woman and her supporters have no respect for anyone other than themselves. That is not how Christians should behave.
