M Clinic are seeking donations to contribute to the anticipated treatment costs for the upcoming financial year, launching a campaign on Chuffed.org
The program of the WA AIDS Council provides a sexual health testing service for men who have sex with men, as well as Rapid HIV Testing, a Drug and Alcohol Clinic and administer PrEP as part of Western Australia’s trial of the treatment.
“Our vision has been to prevent new HIV transmissions in Western Australia, while also empowering local gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men to feel confident and enthusiastic about the sex they have, while also being free of sexually transmitted infections.”
“As a service, our emphasis is on being non-judgemental and welcoming to all of our diverse community, such as overseas students and visitors, along with trans and gender diverse people.”
Due to a rise in STI rates, and an increased number of appointments, M Clinic are exploring options to minimise a rise in treatment costs.
“Rates of sexually transmitted infections, particularly Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis, have all increased within the last few years. This means that the cost of providing treatment has increased for us, although we would like to continue to be able to provide treatment for free.”
“Working with our amazing community has never been a burden, but the rise in treatment costs places an additional financial stress on our ability to provide service excellence.”
