Leah Remini cast as conservative lesbian in new sitcom pilot

King of Queens star Leah Remini has been cast in a new sitcom from the creator of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Remini will play Jean in the as-yet unnamed comedy, a lesbian raising her family with her ex-husband and new wife. As a conservative woman, Jean believes everyone has a right to go about their private business – particularly when it comes to her family life and her ex living in her garage.

The show’s creator Rob McElhenney is a vocal supporter of the LGBTIQ+ community. Raised in a rainbow family himself, he frequently attends Pride celebrations with his wife Kaitlyn Olson and other Sunny cast mates Danny DeVito, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton.

The pilot is set to air next year, where Fox will decide if gets picked up for a full series.
