Out for a Day

If you can’t afford to jet off to one of the many spring celebrations further afield, you can still take advantage of the season at Spring in the Valley on October 13-14. Twenty-eight Swan Valley wineries open their cellar doors for a weekend of wine-tasting and entertainment that ranges from classy courtyard jazz ensembles to DJ dance parties amid the vines. Most wineries charge a small fee ($5-$10) for tastings and many of the more casual cellars have a sausage sizzle as well. In the spirit of responsible drinking, shuttle buses run from Midland Train Station to the valley all weekend.
