Perfume Genius made his second appearance at the Perth Festival, he previous played a show back in 2015, this time Mike Hadreas focused on songs from his most recent fourth record.

Opening up with the Otherside, the lead track from his most recent album, Hadreas appeared on stage in a black pants and a short brown jacket, paired with a matching waistcoat, which showed off his as twisted and turned around the stage.

The hard hitting Longpig from 2014’s Too Bright came next with the audience being hit by a pulsing light show and repetitive beats matched with Hadreas violent sounding vocals. The singer quickly worked through songs from his two most recent albums including Fool, Wreath, Just Like Love and Go Ahead.

With each number the crowd were mesmerized by Hadreas’ dance moves, at time he moved like a displaying peacock and other times he moved like a seagull on the hunt.

All Waters from his earlier album Put Your Back N 2 It was a highlight, it’s meditative beauty shining through.Soon we retured to his more complex work with songs including Grid and Run Through Me.

Slip Away, with it’s sonic explosion of drums and guitars was a worthy finish to the show with the crowd swaying along to it’s soft and loud approach.

The band quickly returned for an encore performing Alan, Learning, Mr Peterson and the triumphant Queen.
